Swirler

Josh and Claudia playing Swirler from Hans-Christoph Steiner on Vimeo.
Swirler (2005) is an interactive, spatialized soundscape that is generated purely from the noises in the room. As sounds are made, they are chopped up into events which are then set off into a space with a life of their own, which then combine with the existing ambiance of the room.

Yoko Ono Art – Cut Piece and the Fluxus Movement

In Cut Piece, the powdered up Yoko Ono knelt down in a traditional Japanese position, seemingly indifferent as members of the audience are invited to cut off her clothes with a pair of scissors. This was first performed in May 1964 in Kyoto.

Psychic Armchair TV

Psychic Armchair TV is an installation by Carrie Gates wherein EEG brainwave signals are used as biofeedback controllers for a video mixer and audio system built in Max/MSP/Jitter. The participant is seated on a comfortable seat in an intimate environment, facing a large television set. They are fitted with an EEG sensor headband that reads their changing brainwaves and sends that data over a wireless Bluetooth connection to a hidden laptop computer controlling parameters of the video playback. When the participants brainwaves change, the video and audio change in realtime, creating a biofeedback loop – sounds and images effect the participant and inform each next moment/phase/instance of the materials. more info
