07/22/09 – Sun Ra:Lectric at ICA

Our first show was Sun Ra:Lectric at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia at the premiere of “Pathways to Unknown Worlds: Sun Ra, El Saturn & Chicago’s Afro-Futurist Underground, 1954-1968″, an exhibit featuring the artwork, music & films of Sun Ra. 300 folks witnessed the first installment of what was to become Saturn Never Sleeps (this was the performance that inspired us to create SNS). A night of sonic and visual funk taking micro-edits of Sun-Ra source music combined with live experimentation and video collage.
